PRESS: Yandex finds distributor to sell devices in Xiaomi stores

MOSCOW, Jan 15 (PRIME) -- Russian Internet company Yandex has picked Marvel-Distribution for the sales of its smart speakers and smart home systems to Xiaomi’s retail chain to expand its presence in the regions, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday.

“All Yandex products work with smart assistant Alice and can be integrated into a smart home ecosystem, for instance by Xiaomi,” Marvel-Distribution General Director Alexei Melnikov told the daily.

A Yandex spokesperson confirmed that Marvel-Distribution along with several other firms distribute Yandex devices, including smart speakers and smart home devices.

Treolan, a unit of group Lanit, has stopped distributing Yandex’ smartphone Yandex.Phone since the start of 2020 as the phone sold out in November and no new production was planned.

Yandex sells its devices not only online, but also offline through the chains of retailers Svyaznoy and DNS, among others. The Internet company also opened small corners in three malls.

Melnikov said Xiaomi has an actively growing chain, counting 67 stores in 50 cities as of the end of 2019, and 30 more stores will be opened in January–February.
